The Living Threads Group The Living Threads Group was formed in 1982 and has a membership of approximately seventy. Members meet regularly, hold workshops and summer schools for themselves and the general public. An exhibition of their work is held every two years donations from which go towards supporting local charities.

Empress Mills The Empress Centre is a mecca for craft and sewing enthusiasts. Part of a working thread mill, the large and colourful, well-stocked shop, houses the wide variety of threads crafted on site as well as an abundance of accessories, craft supplies and gifts.
