Week 1: Make a star book
Materials
Textiles and fibres of your own choice, Plain A4 paper for template/practice book,  Envelopes – new or used, Paper trimmer/guillotine, Ruler, Scissors, Glue stick and/or double sided tape, Card – plain/coloured for actual book. Different sizes can be used for different aspects of the book.

Weeks 2–6: Decorating pages, pockets, tags. Displaying memories through photographs, writing etc.
The requirements for weeks 2-5 will be discussed in week 1.  They will include the following: Textiles and fibres of your own choice, acrylic paint, gesso, acrylic medium, crafting stamps, punches, printing objects, ribbon, buttons, hand and machine embroidery threads, photographs.

This course uses a wide range of tools and materials, many are optional.  Students are encouraged to bring along tools and materials they already own. Each week the tutor will also bring along her equipment. Students may use and/or buy materials and tools from her such as paints, stamps, card, tags, ribbon, heat gun. Materials can be bought according to the amount used in the session.

Course aims:
The aims of this course are to create a book that opens out into a star shape and incorporates expanding pages, pockets and tags. Elements of the book will be made from paper, card and envelopes and decorated with mixed media techniques such as printing, stamping, sewing, scrapbooking etc. A personal theme or memories will be used to give the book a theme.

Make a book that opens out into a star shape to record your treasured memories or give as a gift. Use scrapbooking, art journaling and mixed media techniques to make the cover, pages, pockets and tags before binding.
