Our intrepid members from West Bridgford EG, and members from the Nottinghamshire, Lutterworth and Chesterfield EGs had a lovely visit to the EG headquarters yesterday. The horrendous rain and heavy traffic on the motorway mean that the journey took us nearly 4 hours going, but fortunately only 3 coming back. Janet Jardine gave us a warm welcome and the opportunity to see some special items including the behind the scenes on-site museum storage. I certainly welcomed the chance to buy some duplicate books from the library, and a lovely must-have of a part finished embroidery. It was particularly nice to meet Janet Jardine in person and know the friendly face at the end of the phone and emails. We were fortunate enough to be able to see wonderful new folio examples of how to make stump work. We look forward to borrow some folios for our guild at Sew and So meetings to use to inspire our Regional Kickstart topic, which is Flowers. Those folios were a wonderful opportunity created by EG members to share actual 3-D techniques with us all. All in all a very worthwhile, albeit long for us day. Many thanks for Chris Baldwin for organizing the day. |
